Fred Sitzberger, founder and CEO of Sitzberger & Co., S.C. based in Brookfield, recently made a $15,000 donation to the UWM at Waukesha Foundation. Fred became aware of the Foundation through its treasurer, Calvin Leszczynski, who works at the firm.
Philanthropic support is critical to our success. This statement has always been true, but amid the COVID-19 pandemic we are feeling the weight of that even more, and are grateful for Fred’s partnership and generosity. With our students and faculty working and collaborating in new ways, our campus looks different that it used to. Fred’s gift allows us to continue to play a vital role in the community and provide stability when so much of that has been lost in other places. It is a wonderful example of how a single action can help change the trajectory of an organization and the people it supports.
Board President, Alex Lackore, said, “Leszczynski conveyed that our largest fundraiser of the year had been canceled due to COVID-19 and even secured a sponsorship from him for a smaller, virtual event that we held in November. Fred understands the benefits a two-year institution can offer students in terms of accessibility, affordability, exceptional faculty and small class sizes when starting students on their higher education journey.”
“We are grateful to Fred for wanting to help the Foundation this year when it, like so many other organizations, were impacted by COVID-19,” said Executive Director, Debra Running.
The donation will support Foundation operations and continue to allow us to play a vital role in our community – serving our students, our faculty and our staff.

A Campus Emergency Fund has been established for students facing financial hardships due to COVID19.
The Mission of the UWM at Waukesha Foundation is to support the campus and the academic activities of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee at Waukesha by raising, receiving, and distributing funds to benefit and assist the students, faculty, programs and community partners.
When UW-Waukesha opened in 1966, a non profit organization, “The Friends of UW-Waukesha,” was incorporated to support the campus where public funds were not available. The name has changed several times in 53 years. As a result of the merger between UWM at UW-Waukesha and subsequent name change of the Waukesha Campus, the Foundation is now known as UWM at Waukesha Foundation. Believing that every qualified student should have access to a college education, the Foundation was established for the purpose of raising funds for university scholarships and other campus needs.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and improve conditions. Your generous donation will fund our mission.
